I thought about bread.
Not in a sad way.
Just—bread.
The way it smells in the oven.
How my grandmother sliced it toward her body
like you're not supposed to.
How I do it now too.
I thought about her hands.
Then I was back in the room,
nodding,
and you were still talking,
and I think you said *blockchain*
which rhymes with rain chain
which made me think of Japan
which made me think of rain
and then bread again,
still warm,
still not yours to explain.
